Commskills.org

A database-driven portal of resources on Communication and over 50 sub-categories including professional writing, interpersonal communication, soft skills encompassing over 500 individual links. Includes ajax tools for users to rate and report content nestled in each link container.

Commskills.org was originally created in 2003 as a central point for communications resources on the internet. Since its inception it has attracted many thousands of visitors per month and become an important site for Communications professionals everywhere.

The second iteration of the site was created in 2006, bringing with it usability improvements and a revamped user interface. The start of 2009 heralded another complete overhaul, with a greater degree of user interaction, including user determinations of the quality of content with a vote system and user maintenance.

On the technical side of things, Commskills.org is a PHP/mySQL application and incorporates functionality from the prototype javascript framework.

In the future, the intention is to make Commskills.org a fully functional wiki and increase interaction with the user-base to a greater extent through this in combination with a community blog.

Commskills.org is also fully XHTML 1.0 Strict compliant.
